Regular Season Round 1: Deutsch-Wagram - Flames 78-80

Date: September 22, 2019
An interesting game was also tough home loss of Alligators in a game in Deutsch-Wagram versus undefeated Flames (#6) 80-78. Alligators were very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Alligators were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-21 charge of Flames, which allowed them to win the game. Flames shot 21 for 28 from the free-throw line, while Alligators only scored three points from the stripe. Naturalized Argentinian Fabricio Vay (206-86, agency: Interperformances) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and guard Dominik Alturban (190-85) accounted for 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Paul Rotter (190-0) came up with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Lukas Hofer (182-92) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Alligators in the defeat. Four Flames and five Alligators players scored in double figures. Alligators' coach Hannes Quirgst tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Flames will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Alligators will play against KOS (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
