Regular Season Round 4: Weser Baskets - Vechta 2 70-87

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Weser Baskets (0-5) lost to tenth ranked Vechta-2 (1-3) in Neustadt 70-87 on Thursday. Vechta-2 forced 30 Weser Baskets turnovers and outrebounded them 54-32 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Vechta-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for Tim Insinger (205-97) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds. Center Malte Giljan (205-95) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. Forward Jonas Liermann (197-87) replied with 19 points and 6 assists and forward Lukas Koehler (196-96) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Weser Baskets. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vechta-2 maintains tenth position in North with 1-3 record, which they share with Bergedorf. It was Weser Baskets' fifth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Vechta-2 will face higher ranked Goetting.ASC (#4) in Goettingen in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Weser Baskets will play at home against the league's second-placed ETV (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
