Regular Season Round 4: Rendsburg - Aschersleben 84-89

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Aschersleben (4-1) defeated on the road 11th ranked Rendsburg (1-4) 89-84 on Saturday. Aschersleben dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rendsburg's 32. They outrebounded Rendsburg 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for Lithuanian swingman Lukas Kazlauskas (188-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Italian-Slovenian center Davor Barovic (211-90) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Aschersleben players scored in double figures. Lithuanian center Paulius Sakinis (203-95, college: Peru St., agency: Players Group) replied with 27 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and French forward Cedric Perry (195-97, college: Pasco-Hernando CC) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Rendsburg. Aschersleben keeps a position of North leader, which they share with Neustadt TSV and Eimsbuetteler. Rendsburg lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with four games lost. Aschersleben will face Wolmirstedt (#5) at home in the next round. Rendsburg will play against Stade (#6) and hope to win that game.
