Regular Season Round 4: Deutzer - Leverkusen 2 76-64

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Leverkusen 2 (4-4) lost on the road to tenth ranked Deutzer (2-6) 76-64 on Sunday. Deutzer dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Leverkusen 2's 36. They outrebounded Leverkusen 2 37-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for center Lennart Boner (206) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Florian Schulz (196-89) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Goetz Twiehoff (198-85) replied with 10 points and 9 rebounds and guard Daniel Merkens (184-96) added 9 points in the effort for Leverkusen 2. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Deutzer went down to twelfth position (West) due to points difference, which they share with Hagen-Haspe. Loser Leverkusen 2 keeps the eighth place with four games lost. Deutzer will face league's second-placed Herford at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
