Regular Season Round 4: Jena - Karlsruhe PS 76-74

Date: October 9, 2019
Important game to mention about took place in Jena. Top-ranked Science City Jena (4-0) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Lions (2-2) 76-74 on Wednesday evening. Science City Jena had a 29-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Lions' players. Lions were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by forward Julius Wolf (203-93) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Polish swingman Dennis Nawrocki (193-92) supported him with 23 points. Science City Jena's coach Frank Menz allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 27 points and 7 rebounds by center Maurice Pluskota (208-92) did not help to save the game for Lions. American guard Marcus Stroman (188-96, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Haylett Sports) added 14 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Science City Jena have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Heidelberg and Bremerhaven. Lions at the other side dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with Trier and Bayer Giants. Science City Jena will play against bottom-ranked Kirchheim Knights (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Lions will play against Nuernberg (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
