Regular Season Round 4: Rocks - Lions 69-83

Undefeated leader Lions delivered the fourth consecutive win on Saturday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Rocks (2-2) 83-69 in Mattersburg. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Lions's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-15 extending their advantage to 14 points. They also forced 21 Rocks turnovers. 30 personal fouls committed by Rocks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Spanish guard Ander Arruti (190-90) fired 25 points (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Spanish forward Javier Medori (202-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. American power forward Gary Ware (205-83, college: Purdue, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and guard Philipp Germ (187-96) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lions have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Mustangs. Rocks at the other side keep the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with BBU Salzburg and KOS. Lions is looking forward to face league's second-placed Mustangs in Mistelbach in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rocks will play on the road against Blackbirds in Jennersdorf and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
