Regular Season Round 4: Oberhaching - Wuerzburg 87-101

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Oberhaching (1-3) lost to second ranked Wuerzburg (3-1) in Deisenhofen 87-101 on Saturday. Wuerzburg made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Wuerzburg outrebounded Oberhaching 36-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Oberhaching was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Cameron Hunt (196, college: Southwestern, KS) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Lithuanian forward Rytis Pipiras (201-95) contributed with 28 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Center Moritz Wohlers (203-84, college: MSUB) replied with 25 points and 9 rebounds and American-Czech point guard John Boyer (185-88, college: Buffalo) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Oberhaching. Four Oberhaching players scored in double figures. Wuerzburg maintains second position in South with 3-1 record behind leader Schwelm, which they share with Elchingen and Baunach. Newly promoted Oberhaching keeps the ninth place with three games lost. Wuerzburg will face Giessen 46ers II (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oberhaching will play against White Wings in Hanau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
