There was no surprise in Bonn where Telekom Baskets (1-2) were crushed by Crailsheim Merlins (3-0) 114-82 on Saturday. Crailsheim Merlins made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Telekom Baskets turnovers. Crailsheim Merlins shot the lights out from three sinking 21 long-distance shots on high 51.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Telekom Baskets were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was naturalized Chilean Sebastian Herrera (193-97) who scored 26 points and 4 assists. American guard Javontae Hawkins (196-93, college: Fordham, agency: Higher Vision Sports) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Montenegrin forward Bojan Subotic (203-90) who recorded 14 points and naturalized Cuban swingman Yorman-Polas Bartolo (191-85) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Crailsheim Merlins will face BG Goettingen (#18) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them.
