Regular Season Round 5: Vilsbiburg - TSV Troester 95-93

There was no surprise when 10th ranked TSV Troester (3-3) was edged on the road by sixth ranked Vilsbiburg (3-3) 95-93 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American swingman Kendall Stafford (193-97, college: N.Alabama) stepped up and scored 40 points (!!!) for the winners and naturalized American guard Kenny Fluellen (191-90, college: Paine) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Fluellen is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Vilsbiburg players scored in double figures. Vilsbiburg's coach Marc Vilas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Erik Land (205-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds and guard Joerg Dippold (195-92) scored 23 points. Vilsbiburg have a solid series of three victories in a row. Despite that victory Vilsbiburg went down to eighth position (South-East) due to points difference, which they share with defeated TSV Troester. TSV Troester lost third consecutive game. Vilsbiburg will face higher ranked FC Bayern III (#7) in Muenchen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
