Regular Season Round 5: Schalke - Chemnitz 70-114

Date: October 12, 2019
Very expected game when 11th ranked Schalke (1-3) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Chemnitz (4-1) 114-70 on Saturday. Chemnitz shot 68.3 percent from the field and made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. Chemnitz looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Schalke's players. American guard Terrell Harris (191-93, college: Georgia Coll., agency: Players Group) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and guard Malte Ziegenhagen (195-91, college: Keiser) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) responded with 17 points and 4 assists and center Adam Touray (208-94) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Chemnitz and four Schalke players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chemnitz moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Schalke keeps the eleventh position with three games lost. Chemnitz will face Walter Tigers (#6) in Tuebingen in the next round. Schalke will play on the road against Rostock (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
