Regular Season Round 5: Wulfen - Leverkusen 2 71-76

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Leverkusen 2 and 13th ranked BSV Wulfen had identical 3-4 record. But BSV Wulfen was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Leverkusen 76-71 on Saturday night. Leverkusen 2 made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Leverkusen 2 had a 31-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Point guard Jacob Engelhardt (178-97) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and center Benjamin Nick (206-97, college: Whitworth) chipped in 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. American point guard Bryant Allen (183-90, college: Dakota St.) responded with 19 points and 5 steals and center Michael Haucke (210-85) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four BSV Wulfen players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Leverkusen 2 maintains eighth place in West with 4-4 record. BSV Wulfen lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Leverkusen 2 will face league's second-placed Herford on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BSV Wulfen will play against Ibbenbueren (#3) and hope to win that game.
