There was an upset when second-ranked Herford (6-2) was rolled over at home by eleventh ranked Grevenbroich (3-5) 90-63 on Saturday. Naturalized American Ryon Howard (198-84, college: Sacred Heart) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 20 rebounds for the winners and forward Bastian Becker (196-89) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Grevenbroich players scored in double figures. Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Volkus (203-85, college: Redlands CC) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and guard Omar Zemhoute (194-91) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Herford's coach Ilias Masnic gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Grevenbroich moved-up to ninth place in West, which they share with Wulfen and Hagen BG. Loser Herford keeps the second position with two games lost. Grevenbroich will face higher ranked Hertener Loewen (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Herford will play against Leverkusen 2 (#8) and hope to win that game.
