Loewen's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Giessen, where they edged Giessen 46ers II (1-3) 73-70 on Sunday. They outrebounded Giessen 46ers II 39-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) who helped to win the game recording 5 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Oliver Pahnke (187-98) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Loewen players scored in double figures. Swingman Leon Okpara (195-98) replied with 17 points and Australian-French swingman Julian Pesava (193-95, college: Wayland Baptist) added 14 points in the effort for Giessen 46ers II. Giessen 46ers II's coach Rolf Scholz let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Loewen left bottom position moving up to ninth place in South, which they share with Oberhaching and Giessen 46ers II. It was Giessen 46ers II's third loss in a row. Loewen will face higher ranked Fraport Skyliners II (#5) in Frankfurt in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
