Regular Season Round 4: Tirol - Flames 76-79

Date: October 13, 2019
A very interesting game took place in Innsbruck. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 9th ranked Raiders Tirol (1-3) to top-ranked Flames (3-0) 79-76 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It looked good early as Raiders Tirol took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Flames took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 3 points. They made 23-of-26 charity shots (88.5 percent) during the game, while Raiders Tirol only scored seven points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by Raiders Tirol helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by naturalized Argentinian forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, agency: Interperformances) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and American-French forward Justin Vallejo (197-95, college: Piedmont) supported him with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Even 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by guard Stefan Oberhauser (190-92) did not help to save the game for Raiders Tirol. Luxembourg forward Oliver Vujakovic (192-96) added 21 points for lost side. Raiders Tirol's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Flames have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Raiders Tirol lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with three games lost. Flames' next round opponent will be Worthersee Piraten (#9) in Klagenfurt where they are favorite.
