Regular Season Round 5: Vytis - Perlas 84-99

Rather predictable result in Sakiai where ninth ranked Perlas (3-2) defeated 13th ranked Vytis (1-4) 99-84 on Thursday. Perlas shot 64.3 percent from the field and had 19 for 28 from the free-throw line, while Vytis only scored three points from the stripe. It was a great shooting night for Perlas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Forward Simas Jarumbauskas (198-0, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Greek Andreas Kalogiros (198-2) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Perlas players scored in double figures. Perlas' coach Gintautas Vileita used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Rokas Stankevicius (202-95) responded with 30 points and 6 rebounds and Justas Sakalauskas (200-96) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Perlas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zalgiris II. Vytis lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Perlas will face league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vytis will play on the road against Ezerunas (#14) in Moletai and hope to win that game.
