Regular Season Round 4: Timberwolves - Oberwart 90-92 OT
Date: October 19, 2019
Bottom-ranked Timberwolves (0-4) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to third ranked Gunners Oberwart (3-1) 92-90. The guests were tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They eventually won an overtime period 13-11. Gunners Oberwart dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves' 30 and made 29-of-36 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Timberwolves helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for forward Renato Poljak (197-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Estonian power forward Saimon Sutt (200-95) contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. Bosnian forward Nemanja Nikolic (202-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Jakob Szkutta (188-99) added 21 points and 4 steals in the effort for Timberwolves. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gunners Oberwart moved-up to second place, which they share with Gmunden. Timberwolves at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Gunners Oberwart's next round opponent will be Hallmann (#9) in Vienna and are hoping to win another game.
