Regular Season Round 6: Gargzdu - Telsiai 79-87

There was no surprise in Gargzdai where 9th ranked Gargzdu (2-3) was defeated by fourth ranked Telsiai (5-1) 87-79 on Saturday. Telsiai dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Gargzdu's 28. Telsiai had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) who scored 26 points, 9 assists and 5 steals (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). International center Tomas Rimsa (208-96) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-85, college: Virginia) who recorded 13 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Mantas Ruikis (197-85) added 18 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Telsiai have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Gargzdu lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Telsiai will have a break next round. Gargzdu will play on the road against Palanga (#13) and hope to win that game.
