Undefeated Science City Jena (5-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by fourth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (5-1) 88-68. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Science City Jena. MLP Academics Heidelberg made 19-of-19 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. The best player for the winners was American swingman Shyron Ely (193-87, college: Evansville, agency: Slash Sports) who scored 19 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The other American import forward Adam Eberhard (203-97, college: Bellarmine) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Polish swingman Dennis Nawrocki (193-92) who recorded 14 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and center Oliver Mackeldanz (211-90) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Science City Jena's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Science City Jena. MLP Academics Heidelberg is looking forward to face Rostock (#14) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Science City Jena will play against Schalke (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
