Regular Season Round 3: Lusitania - Barreirense 89-58

Lusitania used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Barreiro 89-58 on Saturday night. Lusitania dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Barreirense's 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Barreirense's players. American forward Shaquille Thomas (201-92, college: Cincinnati) stepped up and scored 30 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Christian Mortellite (198, college: Bloomsburg) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Four Lusitania players scored in double figures. Lusitania's coach Pedro Loth felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward David Shepard (200-94, college: Lindenwood-Bellev.) responded with 27 points and swingman Tiago Raimundo (194-90) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Lusitania will face Oliveirense (#12) in Oliveira in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Barreirense will play at home against Esgueira / Oli (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
