Regular Season Round 5: Dorsten - Recklinghausen 84-97

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Recklinghausen (5-3) beat on the road 4th placed Dorsten (5-3) 97-84 on Saturday. Recklinghausen dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Dorsten's 38. American guard Antoine Myers (191-90, college: Troy) stepped up and scored 31 points and 6 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winners and Pakistani Salman Manzur (205-96) chipped in 26 points. American guard Adam Pickett (185-94, college: Winthrop) responded with 23 points and 4 assists and center Gerrit Budde (203-89) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Four Dorsten players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Recklinghausen. They moved-up to fourth place in West, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Dorsten. Recklinghausen will face Dragons Rhoendorf (#4) at home in the next round. Dorsten will play against Hagen BG and hope to win that game.
