Regular Season Round 4: Bad Homburg - Speyer 104-52

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Homburger TG (2-2) rolled over at home bottom-ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (0-4) 104-52 on Sunday. Homburger TG dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Speyer / Schifferstadt's 36. Homburger TG forced 24 Speyer / Schifferstadt turnovers and outrebounded them 48-35 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Homburger TG looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Speyer / Schifferstadt's players. Quite impressive performance for American guard Quynne Huggins (180-97, college: UTRGV) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Bulgarian guard Gergana Georgieva (182-87) contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Annika Holzschuh (169-2) replied with 15 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Marla Ruf (182-1) added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Speyer / Schifferstadt. Homburger TG moved-up to sixth place in South. Loser Speyer / Schifferstadt still closes the standings with four games lost. Homburger TG will face higher ranked Schwabach (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Speyer / Schifferstadt will play against ASC Theresianum Mainz (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
