Important game to mention about took place in Mistelbach. Third ranked Mustangs (5-1) saved a 2-point victory at home edging second-best Blackbirds (4-2) 65-63 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Blackbirds. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Blackbirds were ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 23-20 charge of Mustangs, which allowed them to win the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Czech swingman Michal Jedovnicky (194-95) notched 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and Julian Alper (180-0) supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Mustangs players scored in double figures. Even 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Croatian center Marko Moric (205-81) did not help to save the game for Blackbirds. Forward Christoph Astl (186-88) added 15 points and 5 rebounds. Mustangs used an opportunity after Lions lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Blackbirds at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. Mustangs will play against Flames (#4) in Vienna in the next round. Blackbirds will play at home against Nord Dragonz and hope to get back on the winning track.
