Regular Season Round 5: Gaziantep - Pinar Karsiyaka 67-83

Very expected game when 11th ranked Gaziantep (1-4) was defeated at home by leader Pinar Karsiyaka (5-0) 83-67 on Saturday. Pinar Karsiyaka dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Gaziantep's 20. They outrebounded Gaziantep 43-22 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pinar Karsiyaka looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward DJ Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) stepped up and scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Jordan Morgan (203-91, college: Michigan) chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds. Four Pinar Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. Lithuanian point guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (188-89, agency: Players Group) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinar Karsiyaka have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Gaziantep lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with four games lost. Pinar Karsiyaka will face Turk Telekom (#7) in Ankara in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gaziantep will play on the road against OGM Orman (#14) in Ankara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
