Everything went according to plan when third ranked HAKRO Merlins II (4-2) edged on the road bottom-ranked Kronberg (0-6) 88-85 on Saturday. HAKRO Merlins II looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Kronberg was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Trevon Evans (183-95, college: Sioux Falls) who scored 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Croatian-Bosnian power forward Sandro Antunovic (207-98) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. HAKRO Merlins II's coach Marko Stankovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Yannick Schicktanz (186-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 assists and guard Tim Steiner (186-92) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Kronberg players scored in double figures. HAKRO Merlins II have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in South-West with 4-2 record behind leader Leitershofen, which they share with Langen and Koblenz. Loser Kronberg still closes the standings with six games lost. HAKRO Merlins II will face Koblenz (#4) at home in the next round. Kronberg will play against Giessen Pointers (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
