Regular Season Round 6: Speyer - Wuerzburg 64-78

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Speyer (4-2) at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Wuerzburg (5-1) 78-64. It was a key game for the top position in South. Wuerzburg outrebounded Speyer 42-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American guard Cameron Hunt (196, college: Southwestern, KS) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Jonas Weitzel (203-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Wuerzburg players scored in double figures. American guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) replied with 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Dominican-Spanish power forward Michel Acosta (201-92) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Speyer. Wuerzburg have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of South leader, which they share with Baunach. Newly promoted Speyer dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Elchingen. Wuerzburg will play against league's leader Baunach at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Speyer will play against Elchingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
