Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked BasCats Heidelberg (2-5) was defeated on the road by second ranked Hannover (5-1) 76-66 on Sunday. Hannover forced 25 BasCats Heidelberg turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Stephanie Gardner (170-92, college: ODU) who scored 21 points and 8 assists. The former international Birte Thimm (180-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Victoria Harris (190, college: Rutgers) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Olivia Nash (185-94, college: Oakland) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hannover have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-1 record behind leader Keltern. Newly promoted BasCats Heidelberg dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. Hannover will meet SV Halle Lions (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BasCats Heidelberg will play against TV Saarlouis Royals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
