Regular Season Round 7: Herlev - Vaerlose 82-46

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Vaerlose (2-4) was crushed on the road by third ranked Herlev (4-2) 82-46. The game without a history. Herlev led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Herlev shot 26 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Vaerlose only scored eight points from the stripe. Herlev forced 20 Vaerlose turnovers and outrebounded them 54-31 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Vaerlose was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ellen Iversen (180-97) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Caroline Rasmussen (177-1) contributed with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Frida Formann (179-1) answered with 11 points and 7 rebounds and forward Trine Drejer (173-98) added 9 points in the effort for Vaerlose. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Herlev have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Horsholm. Vaerlose at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with SISU and Aabyhoj. Herlev will play against SISU (#6) in Copenhagen in the next round. Vaerlose will play on the road against the league's second-placed Amager in Kastrup and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
