Regular Season Round 9: Suduva-Mantinga - Neptunas-Akv. 75-76

Undefeated Suduva-Mantinga (7-1) recorded its first loss in Marijampole on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Neptunas-Akv. (7-2) 76-75. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Suduva-Mantinga. 25 personal fouls committed by Suduva-Mantinga helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Klaidas Metrikis (204-0) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Center Vytautas Sarakauskas (204-82) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Sarunas Beniusis (206-93) who recorded 24 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Gintautas Matulis (196-86, agency: Players Group) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Neptunas-Akv. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 7-2 record having just one point less than leader Suduva-Mantinga, which they share with Silute. Suduva-Mantinga at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Telsiai. Neptunas-Akv. is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Silales Lusis (#15) in Rietavas in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Suduva-Mantinga will play on the road against Delikatesas (#11) in Joniskis and is hoping to win this game.
