Regular Season Round 7: Flames - Mustangs 84-70

The game between second ranked Mustangs (5-2) and fourth ranked Flames (4-2) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Mustangs were defeated by Flames in Vienna 84-70. The game was mostly controlled by Flames. Mustangs managed to win second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Flames won last quarter 28-16. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Flames outrebounded Mustangs 44-25 including a 35-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, agency: Interperformances) fired a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds for the winners. American-French forward Justin Vallejo (197-95, college: Piedmont) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Flames players scored in double figures. Czech forward Jakub Krakovic (205-90) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and Christoph Leydolf (190-99) added 8 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Flames maintains fourth place with 4-2 record, which they share with Furstenfeld. Mustangs at the other side keep the second position with two games lost. They share it with Blackbirds. Flames is looking forward to face Nord Dragonz (#10) in Eisenstadt in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mustangs will play at home against Deutsch-Wagram (#12) and are hoping to win this game.
