There was no surprise in Samokov where 7th ranked Cherno More (1-4) was defeated by fourth ranked Rilski (4-1) 108-92 on Friday. Rilski shot 62.5 percent from the field. Rilski outrebounded Cherno More 43-28 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Danish-Ivorian center Jonas Zohore (208-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Brandon Brown (180-91, college: Loyola Mary) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international forward Sim Iliev (204-89, agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Jimmy Gavin (191-91, college: Winthrop, agency: 011 Sports) scored 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Five Rilski and four Cherno More players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rilski moved-up to third place, which they share with Beroe. Loser Cherno More keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Spartak Pleven and Yambol. Rilski will meet at home Academik Plovdiv (#6) in the next round. Cherno More will play against Spartak Pleven and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
