Regular Season Round 4: Cherkasy - Zaporizhye 95-97

A very close game took place in Cherkasy between Zaporizhye and Cherkasy. Fifth ranked Zaporizhye (3-5) got a very close victory on the road over 4th ranked Cherkasy (4-3). Zaporizhye managed to escape with a 2-point win 97-95 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cherkasy. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. Strangely Cherkasy outrebounded Zaporizhye 39-27 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American center Deionte Simmons (205-96, college: Chicago St.) fired 32 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Brandon Randolph (188-95, college: Utah Valley, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 23 points and 6 assists. Swingman Olexandr Belikov (201-92) produced 32 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure) added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Zaporizhye went down to sixth position due to points difference. Cherkasy at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Zaporizhye will meet at home league's leader Prometey in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cherkasy will play against Mykolaiv and hope to secure a win.
