Very expected game when 9th ranked Hagen BG (4-6) lost on the road to third ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (7-3) 104-96 on Saturday. Dragons Rhoendorf outrebounded Hagen BG 38-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Quite impressive performance for American swingman Curtis Hollis (198-98, college: Hutchinson CC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Center Mark Mboya-Kotieno (206-0) contributed with 25 points and 7 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. Dragons Rhoendorf's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Salathiel Ligons (201-84) answered with 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and guard Yannick Opitz (186-90) added 24 points and 4 assists in the effort for Hagen BG. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Dragons Rhoendorf. They maintain third place in West with 7-3 record having just six point less than leader Leitershofen, which they share with Hertener Loewen. Loser Hagen BG keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Dragons Rhoendorf will face ETB Wohnbau (#14) in Essen in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hagen BG will play at home against Grevenbroich (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
