Regular Season Round 7: Idstein - Saarlouis/Dillingen 77-72

Very expected game when 6th ranked Saarlouis/Dillingen (3-4) lost on the road to second ranked Idstein (6-1) 77-72 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Saarlouis/Dillingen was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for Austrian-Croatian point guard Matej Kljaic (178-93) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 assists. Naturalized Ghanian forward Cedric Quarshie (194-83) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Idstein players scored in double figures. Idstein's coach Igor Starcevic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Bulgarian Filip Kamenov (200-95) answered with 29 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Ricky Easterling (189-83, college: Bridgewater) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Saarlouis/Dillingen. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Idstein. Newly promoted Idstein maintains second place in South-West with 6-1 record having just one victory less than leader Leitershofen. Saarlouis/Dillingen lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Idstein will face Stuttgart (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saarlouis/Dillingen will play against Fellbach (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
