Regular Season Round 6: Crailsheim - EWE Baskets 93-98

Undefeated Crailsheim Merlins (5-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked EWE Baskets (4-2) 98-93. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Crailsheim Merlins. EWE Baskets made 27-of-28 charity shots (96.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Crailsheim Merlins 46-24 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American swingman Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) who led his team to a victory with 32 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (210-90, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Dewayne Russell (180-94, college: GCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 assists and his fellow American import forward Aaron Jones (206-93, college: Ole Miss) added 22 points in the effort for Crailsheim Merlins. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. EWE Baskets maintains seventh position with 4-2 record. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Brose Bask. and Ludwigsburg. EWE Baskets will play against bottom-ranked BG Goettingen (#17) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Crailsheim Merlins will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
