Regular Season Round 5: Ilirija - Troti 87-76

The most surprising game was the first loss of Troti (4-1) in Ljubljana on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by eighth ranked Ilirija (2-2) 87-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Troti. The game was mostly controlled by Ilirija. Troti managed to win second period 23-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Ilirija won last quarter 26-16. Ilirija had a 27-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Point guard Dejan Milasinovic (182-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds. Milos Varagic (197-87, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Ilirija players scored in double figures. Swingman Rok Savic (195-98) answered with 22 points and 8 rebounds and guard Jure Prus (183-96, college: Northwood) added 19 points in the effort for Troti. Ilirija moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Hrastnik. Troti at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. Ilirija is looking forward to face higher ranked Celje (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Troti will play against the league's second-placed Triglav in Kranj and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
