Regular Season Round 7: BSW Sixers - Rist Wedel 70-64

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Sixers as it allowed them to take a leadership position in North. Sixers defeated 4th placed SC Rist Wedel in Sandersdorf 70-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SC Rist Wedel. Sixers dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to SC Rist Wedel's 22. Sixers forced 19 SC Rist Wedel turnovers. It was a great evening for American power forward Justin Smith (201-87, college: Hawaii-Hilo) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Croatian point guard Luka Petkovic (190-88) helped adding 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Sixers players scored in double figures. At the losing side Samuel Schmedes (198-0) responded with 25 points and forward Alexander Angerer (203-96) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sixers (6-1) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Schwelm. SC Rist Wedel at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. SC Rist Wedel will play next round against RSV Eintracht trying to get back on the winning streak. Sixers will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Duesseldorf at home.
