Very expected game when 12th ranked Schalke (2-6) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Bayer Giants (6-3) 81-76 on Sunday. Bayer Giants made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was center Dennis Heinzmann (216-91) who scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Serbian guard Nino Celebic (191-91) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Bayer Giants' coach Hansi Gnad used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) who recorded 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and center Adam Touray (208-94) added 19 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Bayer Giants. Newly promoted Bayer Giants maintains sixth place with 6-3 record.
