Regular Season Round 5: Univ.Cluj - Sibiu 2 82-78

No shocking result in a game when leader Univ.Cluj (4-0) beat 7th ranked Sibiu 2 (2-4) in Cluj Napoca 82-78 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sibiu 2 trailed by 22 points at halftime and as many as 23 after three quarters before a 31-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 78-82 at the end of the game. Univ.Cluj looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Sibiu 2 was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. International swingman Radu Paliciuc (200-88) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 blocks. Center Mihnea-Tudor Brie (196-1) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard David-Engi Engi-Rosenfeld (186-97) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and Sebastian Costeiu added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Sibiu 2. Four Univ.Cluj and five Sibiu 2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Univ.Cluj. They maintain second place with 4-0 record behind leader UBT Cluj. Sibiu 2 lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with four games lost. Univ.Cluj will face Agronomia Buc. (#4) in Bucuresti in the next round. Sibiu 2 will play at home against Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
