Regular Season Round 6: Braunschweig - Giessen 46ers 92-86
Date: November 3, 2019
Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Braunschweig (4-1) beat at home 11th ranked Giessen 46ers (1-4) 92-86. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Braunschweig dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Giessen 46ers' 38. They outrebounded Giessen 46ers 44-23 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Giessen 46ers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Scott Eatherton (206-91, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and international Karim Jallow (198-97) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Braunschweig's coach Pete Strobl allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 20 points by American point guard Stephen Brown (180-96, college: Bucknell) did not help to save the game for Giessen 46ers. His fellow American import guard Teyvon Myers (188-94, college: WVU) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Braunschweig and four Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. Braunschweig moved-up to sixth place. Giessen 46ers at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Braunschweig's next round opponent will be BBC Bayreuth (#12) on the road where they are favorite. Giessen 46ers will play against SC Rasta Vechta and hope to win that game.
