Regular Season Round 6: Ternopil-TNEU - Lutsk Univ. 68-82

The most surprising game was the first loss of Ternopil-TNEU (5-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Lutsk Univ. (2-2) 82-68. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Ternopil-TNEU. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Lutsk Univ.'s pressure prevailed and they won that period 28-21 extending their advantage to 14 points. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Lutsk Univ. forced 19 Ternopil-TNEU turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Ternopil-TNEU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Volodymyr Kotsko (190-97) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Denys Tiutiunyk (195-92) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Lutsk Univ. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Mykyta Naiko (197-92) with 22 points and center Valeriy Anisimov (210-90) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lutsk Univ. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with SumDU. Ternopil-TNEU at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with KDPU and Niko-Basket. Lutsk Univ. is looking forward to face league's second-placed Khimik-2 in Yuzhny in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ternopil-TNEU will play on the road against Zhytomyr and is hoping to win this game.
