Regular Season Round 5: Tornado KM - Panevezio 68-84

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Tornado KM (2-1) in Kaunas on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by leader Panevezio (4-0) 84-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tornado KM. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-68. Panevezio dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Tornado KM's 46. Panevezio forced 23 Tornado KM turnovers. Guard Dominykas Butka (196-3) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and center Eirinas Pilkauskas (197-2) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Kostas Cepavicius (194-2) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and guard Laurynas Virbalas (179-2) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panevezio have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Zalgiris U18 and Vilniaus Silputa. Tornado KM at the other side keeps the sixth position with one game lost. Panevezio is looking forward to face Sostines (#5) in Vilniaus in the next round. Tornado KM's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Zalgiris U18.
