Regular Season Round 9: Nuernberg - Kirchheim 100-91

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Kirchheim Knights (1-7) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Nuernberg (7-2) 100-91 on Sunday. Nuernberg dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Kirchheim Knights' 30. Kirchheim Knights were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Duane Wilson (190-94, college: Texas A&M) who scored 31 points and 5 rebounds. Hungarian point guard Marcell Pongo (194-97, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Wilson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Nuernberg players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Keith Rendleman (203-90, college: UNCW, agency: HMS) who recorded 15 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import point guard Jalan McCloud (180-95, college: ETSU) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Kirchheim Knights' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nuernberg moved-up to third place, which they share with Heidelberg and Jena. Loser Kirchheim Knights dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Nuernberg will have a break next round. Kirchheim Knights will play at home against Lions (#11) and hope to win that game.
