Regular Season Round 5: Mykolaiv - Cherkasy 68-76

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Mykolaiv (2-6) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Cherkasy (5-3) 76-68 on Thursday. Mykolaiv trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 22 after three quarters before a 23-9 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 68-76 at the end of the game. Cherkasy outrebounded Mykolaiv 38-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure) who scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Bosnian power forward Sead Hadzifejzovic (202-89, agency: 011 Sports) chipped in 15 points. Swingman Maksym Lutsenko (191-93) produced 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Vitaliy Zotov (188-97) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Mykolaiv's coach Vitaliy Cherniy let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cherkasy maintains fourth place with 5-3 record. Mykolaiv lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. Cherkasy will face bottom-ranked Kharkivski Sokoly (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mykolaiv will play against the league's leader Prometey and hope to win that game.
