Regular Season Round 11: Zalgiris II - Gargzdu 91-90

The most exciting game of round 11 in the NKL took place in Kaunas. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Gargzdu (4-6) to fifth ranked Zalgiris II (6-4) 91-90 on Thursday evening. Zalgiris II made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for forward Justinas Ramanauskas (193-0) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Forward Erikas Venskus (205-0) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Mantas Ruikis (197-85) responded with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-85, college: Virginia) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Zalgiris II maintains fifth place with 6-4 record. Gargzdu at the other side dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with Palanga and Taurages. Zalgiris II are looking forward to face higher ranked Neptunas-Akv. (#4) in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gargzdu will play at home against Jonava (#15) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
