Regular Season Round 8: Triglav - Ilrija 96-50
Date: November 9, 2019
The game with biggest result difference took place in Kranj. Local Triglav (4-3) outscored 8th ranked Ilrija (1-7) 96-50 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Triglav. Ilrija was better in second period 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ilrija to just 6 points in third quarter. Triglav dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ilrija's 22 and made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Ilrija 47-15 including a 33-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Triglav looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Ilrija's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Alexis Burke (180-92, college: Rutgers) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Ajda Burgar (176-1) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Triglav players scored in double figures. Manca Vrecer (178-2) produced 14 points and 4 assists and guard Eva Jamnik (172-99) added 10 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Triglav moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Grosbasket. Ilrija lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Triglav will have a break next round. Ilrija will play at home against Ledita D. (#3) and hope to win that game.
