There was no surprise when 7th ranked Jena II (4-4) was outleveled on the road by fifth ranked Bamberg (5-2) 108-69 on Saturday. Bamberg dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Jena II's 32. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Point guard Kevin Eichelsdoerfer (187-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points. Guard Steffen Walde (190-92) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Five Bamberg players scored in double figures. American Vincent Garrett (198-91, college: Green Bay) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Adomas Linartas (182-3) added 17 points in the effort for Jena II. Bamberg have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in South-East, which they share with Leitershofen. Loser Jena II keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Bamberg will face Herzogenaurach (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Jena II will play against TSV Troester and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
