There was no surprise in Langen where 9th ranked Rhein Main Baskets (1-6) were defeated by fourth ranked Homburger TG (4-2) 93-78 on Saturday. Homburger TG outrebounded Rhein Main Baskets 33-20 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Spanish forward Nerea Garmendia (181) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Laken James (175, college: Green Bay) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five Homburger TG players scored in double figures. Canadian guard Jamie Hutcheson (175, college: MCC Toronto) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Pia Dietrich (168-94) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Rhein Main Baskets' coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Homburger TG. They maintain fourth place in South with 4-2 record. Loser Rhein Main Baskets dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Homburger TG will face Saarlouis Roden (#7) at home in the next round. Rhein Main Baskets will play against Speyer / Schifferstadt (#9) in Dudenhofen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
