Regular Season Round 5: Canik Belediye - Cukurova 76-82

Cukurova can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Samsun, where they defeated Canik Belediye (0-5) 82-76 on Saturday. American forward Nia Coffey (185-95, college: Northwestern, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Spanish guard Leonor Rodriguez-Manso (180-91, college: FSU) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Four Cukurova players scored in double figures. American guard Rebecca Harris (173-86, college: Illinois) responded with 30 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import center Stephanie Madden (186-88, college: Langston) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Cukurova (1-4) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Adana Basket. It was Canik Belediye's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Cukurova will meet at home league's leader Fenerbahce in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Canik Belediye will play against the league's second-placed Galatasaray (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
