Regular Season Round 5: Kayseri - Hatay 77-59

The game in Kayseri was also quite interesting. 4th placed Hatay (3-2) played at the court of sixth ranked Kayseri (3-1). Kayseri did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 77-59 on Saturday. Kayseri dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hatay's 36. They outrebounded Hatay 45-29 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Kennedy Burke (185-97, college: UCLA) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Shacobia Barbee (179-94, college: Georgia) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. American forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke) produced 15 points and Bosnian-Slovenian power forward Marica Gajic (189-95) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kayseri moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Elazig. Loser Hatay dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Kayseri will face higher ranked Ormanspor (#3) in Ankara in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hatay will play at home against Cankaya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
