Regular Season Round 7: Afyon - Tofas 73-84

Very expected game when 11th ranked Afyon Bld (2-5) lost to fourth ranked Tofas (6-1) in Afyonkarahisar 73-84 on Sunday. Tofas dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Afyon Bld's 32. Tofas forced 23 Afyon Bld turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American center Devin Williams (206-94, college: WVU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Center Muhsin Yasar (210-95) contributed with 16 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. American point guard Jordon Crawford (168-90, college: Bowling Green) answered with 17 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and Slovenian Gregor Hrovat (196-94) added 13 points and 5 assists in the effort for Afyon Bld. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tofas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Afyon Bld dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. Tofas will face league's second-placed Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Afyon Bld will play on the road against Darussafaka (#8) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
